Leadis Technology was formed in May 2000 with the goal of providing high performance small panel display driver ICs for use primarily in mobile phones. The company began commercially shipping Color STN and Organic LED products in the third quarter of 2002 and expanded into amorphous silicon and LTPS TFT products in the second half of 2004. During 2006, the company shipped over 100 million units of our display driver products, which are in use in a large number of mobile phones throughout the world. In January 2007, Leadis launched its second product line – LED drivers and high performance analog solutions, with the company leveraging its existing technical core competencies to enter the broader general-purpose analog market. The company announced an initial focus on mobile backlighting, with significant synergies expected from an increasing interdependence between LED drivers and display drivers. In March 2007, Leadis acquired Mondowave Inc., a company specializing in low power, high performance consumer audio products. Initial product offerings include a CODEC with headphone amplifier, a FM transmitter, and industry's first integrated CODEC with headphone amplifier that also includes FM transmitter capability. The value proposition over competitive offerings includes significantly lower power consumption and lower external parts requirements, leading to longer battery life, lower BOM costs, and a small solution footprint critical for the form factor trends of today’s mobile consumer electronics devices. Leadis acquired Acutechnology Semiconductor Inc., a privately held analog semiconductor company specializing in power management technologies for industrial and consumer market, in December 2007. The Acutechnology acquisition enhances Leadis' current analog product portfolio, adding approximately 20 products, patent protected innovative intellectual property as well as an experienced analog product development team. |
