Leadis LED Drivers have the perfect solutions for small to medium display portable applications. For larger displays such as smart-phones that promote content-rich multimedia applications, Leadis integrates both its’ PowerLiteTM Current Regulator and 1.33x Charge Pump mode to provide world leading efficiency for six channel LED Drivers, such as with the LDS8866 and the LDS8869. For smaller displays such as low-cost handsets and portable products that use lower-VF white LEDs and lower-cost TFT-LCD modules, Leadis offers the LDS8845 and the LDS8846, a new family of no-noise, highly efficient 4-channel white LED drivers. Key TechnologiesPowerLiteTM Current Regulator provides a typical transition threshold of only 50mV, allowing a device to stay in a charge-pump driver's highest-efficiency mode longer than competing products. Additionally, this patent-pending technique also solves one of the most significant problems associated with charge-pump based LED Drivers, namely the transition between the high-efficiency state (1x-mode) and the lower efficiency states. By lowering the drop out voltage of the driver to only 50mV, battery life can be extended by up to 20%. 1.33x Charge Pump Mode is an additional charge pump mode (beyond 1x, 1.5x, and 2x) that generates an output voltage equal to 1.33 times the input voltage. Leadis' 1.33x pump mode serves as a higher-efficiency intermediate mode between the 1x and 1.5x modes, resulting in efficiency improvements up to 10% over traditional offerings. |
