The LDS6040 and LDS6048 are programmable touch controllers with integrated TouchSense®-Ready haptics drivers and keypad LED drivers for use with capacitive sensor arrays implementing touch-based input controls including sliders, scroll wheels, and buttons. Featuring 15 sensor inputs, the LDS6040/6048 provide fast update rates of 2ms per sensor input with on-chip automatic calibration logic continuously monitoring the environment to adjust ambient baseline levels to increase touch accuracy. Eight of the 15 sensor inputs are configurable as LED drivers capable of driving up to ~8mA of current, with >60mA available for a single LED by connecting multiple LED drivers together. LED dimming may be configured over various transition times, with 32 dimming steps available at maximum current drive. Automatic activation of LED with a valid touch event is achieved by associating an LED driver to a sensor input, alleviating the need for the host processor to turn on the LED. The devices operate with a 1.8V touch supply voltage and LED supply voltage range of 3V to 5V. The LDS6040 is optimized for portable applications, driving up to 3.6V on the haptic driver output, while the LDS6048 is targeted for non-mobile applications and supports haptic driver output voltages up to 5.5V. With the touch sensor block consuming less than 150uW (typical) of power in full power mode, the LDS6040 and LDS6048 enable extremely low power consumption in full power mode. Both SPI-compatible and I2C-compatible interfaces are supported with a general-purpose input/output (GPIO) and interrupt output for additional communication with the host processor. The LDS6040 and LDS6048 are packaged in a 5mm x 5mm 40ld TQFN package with maximum thickness of 0.8mm.
